Canada Day Quilt Sew A Long

Hi everyone! It’s been a while. During the first few months of the pandemic I kept myself busy sewing masks and quilts. Then life went back to semi-normal and I actually worked until the end of January. Now we are back to lockdown life, and I am back to quilting.


One of the quilts on my list is a Canada Day Quilt. in the fall I purchased a great pattern from Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville.com called Appalachian Autumn because I thought it would be perfect in red and white.


I'm going to replace all the fall colours with reds, use whites for the light backgrounds,  and beiges for the gray backgrounds.

Twas a great marnin’ on da water...I know first hand because I had to go to be the third person in the boat. I didn’t catch the biggest cod fish, but I did catch the first one! Partridgeberry Scones

There is nothing in the world as good as a partridgeberry. AKA lingonberries if you are from Scandinavia. They grow wild here in Newfoundland and at this time of year we take to the woods to get our winter supply. I have to admit I haven't picked any yet this year. My 81-year-old father picked 3 gallons for me! Aren't they beautiful! If you aren't lucky enough to have your own supply of these in your back yard, you can substitute cranberries in the recipe. The scones won't be as good, but you work with what you've got right? Scones are pretty forgiving when you are making them, and they allow for lots of substitutions, which I will get to as I go along. Copycat Mary Brown's Chicken Wings in the Actifryer

It has been months since I have posted. Life happens! Other than my granddaughter growing so quickly, not a lot else is new on the people front. On the personal front, Karl gifted me with a longarm sewing machine a couple of weeks ago. It's for my birthday and Christmas and next year's birthday and Christmas and...lol. It's all put together but I haven't started her up yet! A little daunting! (Why is a sewing machine a female?) I'll post a picture of my first completed project when I take the plunge and thread the needle! While the calendar says summer, the temperature doesn't. We've had a few nice 'seasonal' days, but today isn't one of them. I thought I'd make comfort cold weather food for supper, which in this case is copycat Mary Brown's chicken wings in the Actifryer.
